It’s a Liberal Thing is a satire publication. This page explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, what it does not collect, and the choices you have. The short version: we count readers. We do not keep dossiers.

What we measure. This site uses Google Analytics to understand its readership. Google Analytics places cookies on your device and reports to us, in aggregate, the pages visited, the approximate location of visitors, the devices and browsers used, and the sites that referred them. We read the totals. We do not receive, and do not seek, a list of who you are. Google Search Console similarly provides us aggregate information about how this site appears in Google search results.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — internet address, time, and the page requested — in order to operate and secure the site. Those logs are held by the provider under its own policies and are not used by this newspaper to identify readers.

Email. If you write to us — a tip to tips@itsaliberalthing.com, a note to contact@itsaliberalthing.com, or a Dispatch subscription — we keep your message and your address for the purpose you sent it: to read it, to reply, or to send the Dispatch. We do not sell, rent, or hand over email addresses to anyone.

Cookies. The cookies described above are the only ones this site sets. You may block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the paper will still load. It is mostly paper.

Advertising. This site does not currently carry advertising. When advertising is introduced, third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or the industry opt-out page at aboutads.info.

Comments and other sites. This website hosts no reader accounts and no comments. Discussion of our stories takes place on our Facebook page and is governed by Facebook’s privacy policy. Links from this site to other websites are governed by those sites’ own policies.

Children. This publication is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes. If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
